Huawei came in the fifth position in the EU Industrial Research and Development Investment Scoreboard 2019 for being one of the world’s biggest investors in research and development among 2,500 companies.
Through its R&D investments of $4 billion in 5G research since 2009, Huawei has become the leading developer of 5G technologies worldwide and in the Middle East, in specific.
The leading global provider of information and communications technology (ICT) has 3,367 families of 5G patents, accounting for over 20% of the total ICT vendors, in addition to the nine 5G standards and research centre across the world.
Marking its success in developing 5G technologies, Huawei signed more than 60 commercial contracts related to 5G, including eleven in the Middle East, in the third quarter of 2019 while shipping over 400,000 of 5G base stations globally.
In addition, the Chinese enterprise has established digital transformation industries in the Middle East and abroad through benefitting from R&D progress.
It is noteworthy to mention that in 2019, Huawei’s global sales revenues increased by roughly 18% year-on-year to $122 billion.
